"There is a truth to sport, a purity, a drama, an intensity. A spirit that makes it irresistable to take part in, and irresistable to watch. In every Olympic sport there is all that matters in life.

And one day we will tell our children, and our grandchildren, than when our time came we did it right."
- Seb Coe, opening the 2012 games

Expert Summariser

Your correspondent was briefly and implausibly elevated to the level of analyst in this article on Yahoo! news.  I say analyst, you might say expert summariser, the author prefers the looser title of 'Brit'.  Still, I think I do a good job of capturing the nation as a bunch of penny-pinching ignoramuses who will try anything if it's cheap enough.

If you can really judge a man by the company he keeps, I'm doing fine, cited alongside GB star Jonathan Pearce, British Handball chairman John Brewer and Iceland coach Gudmundur Gudmundsson.  If you judge him by what he says when someone waves a dictaphone under his nose, I'm in trouble.
